The Alexander Technique teacher has been trained to use their hands in a subtle and unique way. Gently using touch and explanation the teacher will help you become aware of your habits and how you can change them. Using everyday movements such as sitting and standing, we will explore where you are holding tension and you will learn to let it go. For part of the lesson you will be lying down, which gives the body an opportunity to release further muscle tension.
No special clothing is required providing movement is not restricted, and only shoes need to be removed.
The number of lessons you will have depends on your individual needs and goals. As a guide 15-20 lessons are recommended for continuing self improvement, but even a few lessons can make a real difference.
The Alexander Technique is not easy to describe in words; it is better to experience it.
